Take It With You

Pro

Copy videos onto an external drive, encrypted, and play them on your iPhone, iPad or Mac signed in to the same Apple Account. Fill the drive from your share, eject it from inside the app, and your library goes wherever you do, no server in sight. Copying runs while the app is open.

SMB over QUIC

Pro

Reach your NAS over the internet on encrypted UDP 443, no VPN required. Tap Get from Server to fetch the server's certificate, confirm it once, and you're in, on Apple TV too. Your server needs SMB over QUIC switched on.

Browse on the Mac

Pro

The hero carousel, Continue Watching and Favorites rows, and instant search now live beside the player on the Mac, in a pane you can collapse when you just want to watch. Downloads slide in as a side panel instead of taking over the window.

Downloads, a screen of its own

In Progress at the top, then everything saved on this device, and on a connected drive when you have one. The screen is free for everyone; saving videos to it needs Pro.

  • Shuffle learns which videos your device can't play, video or audio, and stops landing on them. They stay visible, dimmed and badged, instead of quietly vanishing.
  • Watch parties only vote on videos everyone in the room can play.
  • Downloads survive the connection dying while your phone sleeps. They reconnect and pick up where they left off. Pro
  • Downloads keep going while your phone is locked. Pro
  • Resume where you left off on another device and the download jumps ahead to that spot instead of stalling. Pro
  • A password changed on one device is picked up by your other devices before their next connection attempt.
  • Now Playing artwork keeps real frames from your videos instead of falling back to a generic card. Pro
  • On the Mac, Command-P shows and hides the playlist bar, and your window size and settings are remembered again.
  • Watch parties are steadier: joins complete, one device rebuffering doesn't pause the room, and play, pause and seek stay in sync for everyone.
  • Removing a saved server is smooth again.
  • Handing playback to AirPlay from the full-screen player just works.

A Now Playing screen you can touch

Previous, current and next appear as a card stack: tap a side card to jump to it, tap the middle one to play or pause. With Pro, the cards show real frames from your videos.

Preview cards your size

Pro

Choose Small, Medium or Large cards in Browse on iPhone and iPad, with thumbnails generated to match. Long-press any card to play, favorite, download or remove it.

Watch Together, from anywhere in the app

Start a watch party from any video row, card or the Player tab. Voting moved into the playlist drawer so the video stays in view, and after you vote it collapses to a slim status strip.

Faster, steadier streaming

Videos start sooner and stutter less over SMB, most noticeably on Apple TV. Browse stays cool and smooth as you scroll, and thumbnails keep loading even when the server is busy.

  • iCloud sync arrives as it happens instead of at the next launch, and clearing your watch history clears it on every device.

Shuffle your own library

Point RandomPlayer at your NAS over SMB, NFS or WebDAV. It finds every video, shuffles them into a playlist and plays full-screen with controls that get out of the way, on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Mac.

Watch Together with SharePlay
